SXSW 2011 is KickiNg AS% & Taking Names This Year!!! – Apply to Play (Part 1)

FIRST OFF!!! REGISTER YOUR BAND OR GROUP NO LATER THAN TODAY FRIDAY 11/05 AS THIS IS THE LAST DAY TO APPLY FOR SXSW! DON’T MISS OUT ON THE OPPORTUNITY TO BE SELECTED FOR THE 25TH ANNIVERSARY OF ONE OF THE BIGGEST FESTIVALS IN THE U.S.! ( I will post more information if you want to attend but not perform in Part 2 of this post)

You can submit your EPK here http://www.sonicbids.com and pay $40.00 bucks to be considered (I’ll do a post on SonicBids later it’s legit). If you do not already have a Sonic Bids account you will have to pay a small fee (under $20.00) to activate your electronic press kit.

(If you do not have an existing Sonicbids account, you’ll want to sign up (2 week trial memberships are available)). It’s totally worth it. Upload those pics, videos, etc asap. Trust me on this one!

SECONDLY: This is the 25th Anniversary for SXSW! We all know what that means, 2011 is going to be pure awesomeness! Click here to see the 2011 schedule thus far http://sxsw.com/schedule

If you are a musician or “film person” (lol) and know nothing about SXSW, you need to learn asap. This is one of the biggest music/film festivals in the US and it takes place in ATX every year. There is a wealth of knowledge offered to artists/attendees via panels held by industry experts. If you are trying to learn more about digital marketing, licensing etc., SXSW offers the panel (If you are not serious about music/film, this festival is NOT for you).

Some of the biggest names have gotten their start or a healthy boost at SXSW, past performers include The Noisettes, Solange, Los Lonely Boys (who started off as a local Austin band), Erykah Badu, Snoop Dog, etc.

SXSW Music portion is like one huge JAM SESSION!

Well anywho, anyone who knows me, knows I was born in Austin, Texas and how much I love that city! The sights, the air, the aroma, is simplistically amazing. Enough about that though Im gonna tell you about my experiences during SXSW and what’s in store this year! Sorry but I’m highly biased, I’m sure the film festival portion is loads of fun but I usually only visit the music events. But since placement in films is in my future i may check out some panels this year.

I would advise the ladies that because the festival is so huge and covers a lot of ground…I would opt for boots or flats. If you try heels like I did last year, your “dogs” will hate you later! Well that’s all for now folks! Part two with pics from my SXSW experience and such coming soon!
